What to expect
Pedra da Gávea offers one of the most spectacular views of Rio de Janeiro, showcasing the entire city from a unique vantage point. Known for its impressive height and iconic rock formations, this hike includes sections of moderate to challenging terrain, with steep areas and some rock climbing. The trail begins in the Tijuca Forest and covers about 2.8 km, taking approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the summit. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Rio’s coastline, the surrounding mountains, and landmarks like Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer, making the effort truly unforgettable!
